Wereld Kampioenschap S1 SuperMotard 2002
13 oktober: Kärntenring - Oostenrijk

Van den Bosh Winner in Carinthia

After the heavy rain on Saturday the Race Committee decided not to use the off-road section of the track. This was not a problem for the event because Kartenring being a very technical but exciting Circuit has many corners and fast chicanes.

The KTM rider won the fourth race in front of his entire manufacture team, and the boss of KTM
Mr. Stefan Pierer, who confirms now to have an even greater interest in SuperMoto.

There were 7000 spectators present at the race with magnificent dulling by riders Van den Bosch and Max Manzo since the 22nd lap.

Husqvarna rider, Manzo seemed to be the only one who could beat the French rider in this first season of SuperMoto.
He was followed however very closely by the KTM rider throughout the race and was able to pass during lap twenty, at the raster chicane.

After taking first position the Italian rider stayed in the lead for three laps. He then crashed out leaving the road to victory for Van den Bosch on his KTM ahead of Boris Chambon.
Chambon made an important come back during this race since his injury at the France Grand Prix. Third position went to German rider Jurgen Kunzel making him the second KTM on the podium.

Austrian KTM hero Klaus Kinigardner took forth position ahead of Husqarna's Rubio surprising everybody including local rider Hannes Maxwald.
