Thierry is terug!!
Het lijkt er sterk op dat KTM zijn zinnen echt heeft gezet op de wereldtitel van 2004. Nu had KTM in 2003 al geen zwak team, met rijders als Boris Chambon en Jürgen Künzel, voor 2004 nemen ze geen enkel risico.

Om zich definitief te kunnen weren tegen de grootste concurrent Eddy Seel op zijn Husqvarna heeft KTM niemand minder dan Thierry Van den Bosch terug weten te halen naar de SuperMotardsport. Deze voormalig wereldkampioen mag in 2004 gaan bewijzen dat hij "het" nog steeds heeft en lijkt de grootste troef voor KTM.

Noot van de redactie: Boris "Bobo" Chambon vertelde ons dat we Lazarini niet in dit monsterteam mochten vergeten te noemen en dat hij zijn best gaat doen in het komende jaar. Persoonlijk gunnen wij Bobo het dit jaar.

Reactie van Mr. VDB:
"Even if I would have prefered to be succesfull in World Supersport Championship and to continue in Road racing, I'm very happy to be again with KTM and to have bikes and support for the victory. Even it will be difficult to do better than 2002 season, I'm very motivated to get back the world championship title and to compete in the U.S with riders like Ward , Mac Grath, Bostrom, Metzger...

2003 was difficult because I was never 100% physically because of an serious injury in February and because bikes was not enough competitive. It was also difficult because everything was new: riding, bike new model, team new in this category... but with a fourth place at Silverstone with normal conditions (dry race and no crash in front), I have proved that it was possible to have good results when everything was working...

Anyway I have no regrets. I know now that Road races need to have very good bikes and experienced team, more than Supermotard. I still believe that I have a potential for Road races and I don't want to stop completely Road races. That's why I will make some Road races in 2004 to still learning but I don't know right now in which category and with which team.

The main target is of course Supermotard with KTM but I think that I'm now stronger after this 2003 experience. I'm now physically fine and that's the most important!

Seel niet bang voor VDB
Het KTM monsterteam maakt kennelijk geen indruk op huidig wereldkampioen Eddy Seel. Naast de beste wensen voor het nieuwe jaar voor al zijn Nederlandse fans had hij het volgende over komend seizoen te zeggen:

"I think is a good think for the sport with the comeback of VDB , the race could be very interesting with big fights. I beat him in 2001 and i'm ready to beat him again ...
For this new season , i continue with the same team cross2r and the factory Husqvarna where the atmospher is really good. The team for this season is me and Delepine in s1 and Gozzini in s2 , I think we are verry strong to catch the two titels. At this moment we have the best bike and the best rider so we don't have fear of KTM team. The wc is going verry well in the good direction , a new categorie s2 with the 450cc is coming for the young drivers . Youthstream works very hard to give us the best race and organisations in the world , when we can see wath they do on two season , for sure the best is coming....... For the next wc , .... me of course.

S2 klasse toegevoegd aan wereldkampioenschap
Naast de S1 klasse zal er volgend jaar ook een S2 klasse van start gaan in het WK. Deze klasse is gereserveerd voor de motoren tot 450cc. Deze klasse is in het leven geroepen om vooral de aanstormende (jonge) talenten een kans te geven om hun sterren te verdienen. De enige bevestigde rijder in de S2 klasse is tot nu toe Gozzini die zal gaan rijden voor Husqvarna.
